Shamanic journey drumming is a magical tool that opens the door to different realities for us. We are not alone in this creation, we are part of a larger web of life. The shamanic world view talks about different realities, which are as real as this reality of ours. In these other realms, the upper and lower world, there are other compassionate beings called Spirits. Spirits can come in many forms; human, angels and animal are a few that can come to be allies once we make a connection with them, bringing knowledge and support to us that we would otherwise not have access too.
On a physiological level, our brainwaves are generally in a state of Theta up until the age of nine. As adults we are in a waking state of Alpha or Beta. The 4-7 beats per second of the drum creates a way for our brains to enter the Theta state, (hypnotic, daydreaming or light sleep) where we can think, imagine and feel as we did as children, connected on a deeper level.
What to Expect:
• Enter the doors at 7:00pm
• Cleansing by way of Sage smoke upon entering. (If you have an allergy or cannot be saged, just feel free to tell me)
• Set up your nest
• Introductions
• Call in the directions, offer up any prayers.
• Set a personal intention or a group intention. (Each individual is encouraged to bring a trinket, memento for the group altar to represent your energy or intention.)
• Instruction on how to journey
• 30 minutes of drumming
• Time of sharing/journaling
• Close Circle by 8:30
What to Bring:
Any items you need in order to lay comfortably for 30 minutes. (pillow, bolsters, cushions, eye covering (sometimes it’s easier to “drop in” in darkness), journal, pen in case you want to record your experience.)
Why would you want to journey?
To meet one or several of your spirit guides for the first time. Ask questions that anyone in this reality would not know the answer too. Seek guidance or direction. Deep relaxation. Experience a trancelike state that you are still in control of. Healing on a physical and neurological level through vibration.
